This Sunday our service will be observing Peace Sunday. Rev Gayanne Frater will preside at our Eucharist and Rev Vicki Terrell will will be delivery a homily. Perhaps a time to reflect on how we might a better makers of peace (and a time to commemorate that it’s 75 years since the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki). Hope you can join us at 7:30pm.
Some reminders below about COVID-19 precautions that we are asking everyone to please keep in mind:
There are now no limitations on our ability to gather for all our activities in the usual way. We still need to take some care however, as the virus remains a global reality and may still be present or return to NZ. For us, this means most activities can be considered safe, including singing, Communion, social gatherings.
If you’re sick, stay home. If you have cold or ‘flu symptoms, call your doctor or Healthline and get tested. Self-isolate if you are told to do so by health authorities. If you can’t make it and would like someone to contact you, please let Alastair know, 0273293426 or email aucklandrainbowchurch@gmail.com .
To assist with for contact-tracing, we will continue to note names of people attending Sunday services. If you have a contact-tracing app for your own reference, there is a QR-code at the door.
Be aware. Caution should still be exercised around practices. There are likely people who are no comfortable with skin-to-skin contact. During the Peace, Communion and personal prayers, please be aware of those around you – that not everyone is comfortable with contact yet.
Practise good hygiene – wash hands frequently, cough or sneeze into your elbow. During communion, acolytes and administrants will use hand sanitiser before handling the elements. We dip the wafer (bread) in the cup, but if you wish just take the wafer as is, or just ask for a blessing.
As we return to more familiar routines, be kind to others. Be kind to yourself.
